I stopped using the app. Please bring back the card swipe

I have never eeeever eeeeeever used this app for other thing than authorizing logins in other devices. Which Rarely happens, like once per month. Yet Google app consumes ~7% of my battery per day, with background refresh turned off.

Where is the camera button? It was such a cool function? This app became redundant (and useless) once Google goggles disappeared.... Oh yea, links dont always open web pages either. Its a problem....

The latest update has broken the swipe to clear on the first page on my new iPhone X! The other screens will let me clear but not the main page. I love the app, wish it was optimized for the iPhone X screen of course but thats a want. But being able to swipe to clear on the first page is a must. Do love the Google prompts for what I would want to read.

This latest update broke my ability to swipe news stories left when I’m done with them. Really irritating bug. iPhone X.

I have used Google app for iOS, well, forever. And now, some numnut 23 year old developer has REMOVED the capability to “swipe to dismiss” functionality in the feed. Ridiculous!

I personally enjoy this application. Like everyone else its our go to search engine, but with the most recent update, a cool feature that lets you swipe cards in the main page was eliminated from the codex. I know you can find other ways to eliminate cards, but I also speak on behalf of those that finds it a must need. Hopefully the next update will add that back into the apps algorithms. Thank you.

Sometimes I use Google for things that I already know but just can’t remember. It has provided clarity for me on multiple occasions.

Please add back option to swipe to either side to remove articles in newsfeed.

I’ve used Google for as long as i can remember. It’s always been good. I gave Bing another go a few months ago and I haven’t looked back. I’m using Bing for now until Google can win me back. Bing search has proven to be every bit as capable. Give it a go.

I have used the app for many years and find the core functions to be incredibly useful. However, recently the development team has been removing useful UI features in what looks like an attempt to force user behavior in a direction that suits them. This has made the app far more cumbersome to use and is making me reconsider using it on a regular basis. For example, the team removed the option a few releases back to clear all open pages you have previously visited, which has no rationale from an end user perspective. Why would I want to manually swipe up on 50 cards to remove each instead of just hitting "clear all"? Now, in the most recent build, it is no longer possible to clear cards on the home page you dont want or are done reading by swiping them away. You must hit the cumbersome small ellipsis target in the upper right corner and select "Hide this story", which takes much longer and is relatively speaking a great deal more effort and less natural to perform. Intuitive core design features like this do not just disappear suddenly without a reason; the team obviously feels that by actively discouraging certain user behavior, they have something to gain. I have no doubt someone in middle management has crunched some numbers and decided that users are more likely to linger on cards the Google engine has decided they should look at (potentially the highest ad revenue generating ones!) if they force them to pause momentarily and consider whether they should deliberately make the effort to clear a card. Maybe this drives more traffic to the pages at the top of the card list, but it ultimately results in a frustrating and non-user centric experience. One that I hope will eventually lead to an overall decline in the use of this app until some suit realizes that chasing short-term revenue gains at the cost of the apps user base wasnt such a brilliant idea after all.

Used to be able to delete a card by swiping away. No longer possible. Now have to select “hide this story” from pop-up menu. PITA.

Cant swipe to dismiss stories anymore.... Cant pull down to refresh feed anymore.... Wow ... Really poor update Google.

Ive had this app for 3 years now with absolutely no problems but ever since the last update it crashes at least once a day on my phone and they only way to get it to work is to re-download it. This is incredibly frustrating and I hope it gets fixed soon before I throw my phone through a wall.

Bugged in this version

Seriously... which of us users said “wow, this swipe-the-story-away feature is really annoying”?!? You took it away in android, it so happens I switch to iPhone and see that the swipe still exists. Great! Well now you’ve taken it away. Look, I appreciate this news feed based on my interests. But if the app is annoying to use, I will treat it just like any other. The 2 week countdown to bring the swipe back begins NOW.

Newest update removed swipe to hide in the feed.

Cards frequently return after you dismiss them. Also sometimes doesnt let you swipe away cards.
