This apps implementation and integration into iOS is not Googles finest work. Many other reviewers have outlined the issues with this app.

In the past I loved this apps news features. However, it shows the same news articles multiple times. When they did away with swiping away articles I just figured they were trying to get people to stop using it. There are many other apps that do news aggregation much better.

If you just want to search Google, use Chrome, or point your favorite browser at the Goole web page.
